Rather it’s a searing tirade on the ‘80s and all its components, from every direction. It’s come under some critical reexamination of late, due in part to outrageous statements from Miller, and in part because it is the comic book equivalent of Purple Haze’s “Excuse me, while I kiss this guy” – it’s a Batman story that hundreds of writers have tried to sing along with in the 30 years since it was published, and that nearly all of them have gotten wrong.ĭKR isn’t even Miller’s foundational take on Batman. ![]()
